Al-Furqan
School is a weekend Islamic School that has been serving
the Muslim community in the triangle area since 1991.
The school offers classes for students from Pre-k to
the High school level and classes for adults. Currently
there are approximately 280 students enrolled in Al-Furqan
school. The school is run by volunteers who serve as
teachers and administrators.

Recess volunteers role (10:45am - 11:00am)
Sign in:
The volunteer must be at the school 5mins early and
sign in at the PSG table and wear the security jacket
provided at PSG table.
Areas:
Gym/Multi-Purpose Hall, Outside MPH area, and
Playground
Tasks:
1. The volunteer must monitor mainly the play area at the
front and back. If you see any child hitting other children
or playing dangerously you must stop the behavior at once
and if they do not listen send them to the office.
2. Children should keep school area clean. If a student
litters, please have student pick up trash and dispose of it
properly.
3. Inclement Weather. In the event that the weather outside
is bad, volunteers should monitor the classrooms. There
should be an adult in each classroom at all times.
4. Make sure that children return back to their classes on
time after recess is over. There should be no children seen
on the playground after 11:00am.
Sign out:
Please sign out and return the jackets once you
have completed your time. (you do not need to sign twice if
you are going to stay for recess and snack/lunch.

Sign in:

Tasks:
1. The main responsibility of the volunteer is to make sure
the lines are moving fast and children are not standing there
for too long waiting to get their food/snack. It would be a
good idea to make separate lines for Pizza, fries, and other.
Smaller children are usually sent for snack earlier than the
older children.
2. Children are not to play with their food. All food should
be handled properly at all times.
3. Children are to dispose of all trash in the garbage cans.
Have children pick up trash if they litter.
4. Collect play equipment. Make sure children return to
classroom. MPH/Gym area should be quiet during class times.
Sign out:
Once the time is over go back to the PSG table and sign out
and return the security jackets.
