Al-Furqan School takes pride in a legacy of educating students about Islam through a variety of programs. Founded in 1986, Al-Furqan School continues to serve the Muslim Community in the Triangle area through its outstanding curriculum. Throughout the website you will gain valuable information about our academics and curriculum, programs and events, student/parent lectures and discussions, which truly sets us apart. Al-Furqan School Events and Announcements:

Al-Furqan School closed for Winter Break

Al-Furqan School will be closed on Sunday, December 21st and Sunday, December 28th 2014 for winter break,  School will resume on January 4th 2015 insha'Allah.

Al-Furqan School Closed Sunday November 30th 2014

Al-Furqan School will be closed on Sunday, November 30th, 2014 because of Thanksgiving break in public schools. School will resume on December 7th insha'Allah.

The Story of Jibreel by Shaykh Omar Suleiman this Friday

This Week's Friday Night Program at IAR is a seminar titled 'The Story of Jibreel (alayhi wa salam) by Bayyinah Institute to be taught by shaykh Omar Suleiman. This class is recommended for children (7 and up) and adults. It will be a memorable moment for everyone insha’Allaah.

Parenting Seminars

Al-Furqan School would like to share the following information with you as it is a great opportunity for all parents:

The IAR Dawah Committee is planning an ongoing series of seminars for parents and caretakers to aid in connecting and understanding what their children are going through while guiding them through living as a Muslim in this day and time.

Please, help us in organizing these seminars and forward this message to anyone you think this would benefit. Everyone's help, either in contributions or presence, is needed.

The meeting to discuss the upcoming seminars and their structure will be this coming Sunday, November 16, at 10am in room 240 at the IAR Masjid.


Daylight Saving Time 2014 Ends This Weekend

Al-Furqan School would like to remind you that Day Light Saving Time will end this weekend so please don't forget to move your clock back by one hour at 2: 00 am, Nov. 2nd 2014 insha’Allah.

Food Sharing at Al-Furqan School

Al-Furqan School has a very careful policy about any food sharing with Al-Furqan students. There are students at Al-Furqan School who are either allergic or sensitive to certain foods therefore we don't allow parents, teachers, or anybody else sharing any food with our students without permission from the office.
Al-Furqan School committee will appreciate your cooperation in respecting our policies.

Early Student Pick up from Al-Furqan School

If you are planning to pick up your child before the school dismissal time at 1:20 pm, please go to the office to sign out your child. If you are planning to pick up your child during lunch break between 12.00 pm and 12.30 pm you need to inform school by sending a written note . We will keep your child ready in the office at old or new building wherever children are located.

Please do not pick up your child directly from gym or play ground during lunch break without signing them out from the office. This would help prevent unsafe practice of taking one's child without informing the concerned personnel. We will appreciate your cooperation!

Al-Furqan School Mock Hajj Program

During the month of Dul Hajja teachers will be giving talks to their class about the Hajj and history behind it. Al-Furqan School 9-12 grade students will be doing a Hajj mock presentation while the rest of the grades will get chance to observe it.

Eid Holiday!

Al-Furqan School will be closed on Sunday  5th October, 2014 in celebration of  Eid-ul-Adha, school will resume on 12th of October 2014 insha’Allah.

Al-Furqan School Open House & QRP Meeting:

Al-Furqan School is going to hold an event of open house and QRP ( Qura'n Reading Program) meeting on Sunday, 14th September 2014 in the first floor musallah between 10.00 am-11.00 am insha'Allah.

Classes will continue as usual. All parents are invited to attend.

Al-Furqan School Registration:

Al-Furqan School continues to register new students in grades left with open spots.  Classes that are already full are:

  • KG
  • 2nd Grade
  • 7-8 Combined Girls Class
  • 7-8 Combined Boys Class
  • 9-12 Combined Girls Class

Al-Furqan School Rules and Procedures

School Timing:

Al-Furqan School starts at 9:45 AM and ends at 1:20 PM. Punctuality is important. Please make sure your child arrives on time and stays until dismissal. As part of the curriculum students are required to stay for Dhuhr prayer.

Tardy Policy:

A tardy slip is issued to the students who arrive after 10 AM. A warning is given to the students who are tardy for more than three times without any excuse.

School Uniform:

Al-Furqan School dress code is designed to encourage islamic modesty. Please make sure your child is dressed up in Al-Furqan School unifrm shirt provided by the school.

Attendance Policy:

Students are expected to attend school every Sunday. If your child is absent from school please send a note upon return or email to Al-Furqan School at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Please be sure to include name, grade, date of absence and reason. The reason for absence is required for consideration as excused absence.

The school sends alert emails to the parents after three or more unexcused absences. Then committee may decide to cancel registeration to give chance to the students who are waitlisted.

Early Student Pickup:

If you plan to pick up your child before the school dismissal at 1:20pm, please go to the office to sign out your child. Please do not pick up your child directly from gym or play ground during lunch hour without signing them out from the office.

Traffic Pattern and Student Safety:

Please follow the directions given by the security personnel while driving through the campus. Traffic in the school campus is one way only. Traffic should enter from Gate 1 on Atwater street and exit from Gate 3 which is at the far end on Ligon street. Please do not use Gate 2 (middle gate) for entry or exit.
Please make sure that children drop off from right hand side.
To avoid the risk involved with street traffic, children should only be dropped off inside the school campus in front of the main building. Children should never be dropped off in the street.
Please do not move the cones to park or enter into reserved areas. Loading unloading is not permissible in the handicapped and reserved parking areas as it leads to traffic jam by Gate 1.
Please do not interrupt the traffic flow within the school campus. Once you have dropped off your children keep moving but do not attempt to cut ahead of the vehicle in front of you. Please wait until the vehicle ahead of you begins to move.
Speed limit is 15 mph inside campus during school hours. Please be cautious while driving as there are chidren and parents walking through the parking lots.
